I don't really look that old...       My name is Kostas (Gus) Fantaousakis. I am 31 years old and I live in Greece. I am a CorelDraw - Photoshop - Flash designer.
What you are reading is not a resume, it is mainly a description of my goals as a person and as an artist.
Yes, I consider myself to be an artist, not just a computer artist. I believe myself to be a synthesizer who explores all avenues open to him, absorbing what is useful and discarding that which isn't. No matter how complicated software programs get, I never forget that the height of cultivation lies to simplicity. Art, computer generated or not, is a lifelong odyssey towards self-perfection.

I first started as a comic book penciler and inker. My first software program was Corel Draw 6. I was lucky because the Corel Draw suite had everything I needed to get started. Soon my goals got bigger. I was not just a comic book artist, I was a desktop publisher.

Computer artists sometimes develop en "elitist" attitude that they are better than the rest of the traditional arts community. They forget that art cannot be perceived until we have come to a full understanding of our potential and ourselves. That cannot be done unless you respect tradition and learn from it. Tradition serves as a guide, a resource that provides new insights into future creations - not a straitjacket preventing change or growth. I learned  more by reading 3 traditional design books than by reading a hundred software manuals and tutorials.

About this site

Founded by me in 2000, Graphicspower.com is a web-site company whose main goal is to provide solutions for every designer. While we focus on the desktop publishing revolution we aim to be at the heart of the next publishing revolution, Internet Publishing that enables visually rich, personalized content to be available to anyone, anytime, anywhere. The Internet is changing how people work and communicate - and our site is leading the way by providing resources that help web and graphics designers stay ahead in a competitive world. This is the new millennium and what will influence it the most is powerful Internet technology that makes it easier than ever to publish to the Web.

Web and graphics designers struggle to create, publish and deliver visually rich content for various types of media. The greatest obstacle in that struggle is one: the lack of information.
